Oprah Ratings hit ALL TIME LOW

In the television summer blues, almost all fall shows are in repeats, and that includes syndicated shows. The networks get a bit lazy and put only a few new shows to air during primetime in the summer, and the same goes for syndicated shows. But something happened this week that hasn’t happened in almost 25 years, and it has to do with the Queen of Daytime. “The Oprah Winfrey Show” fell below the 3.0 rating mark for the first time in it’s 24 year history. The show delivered a 2.9 rating last week, and was beaten by Judge Judy once again, with “Judy” getting a 4.0 rating. She also has beaten “Oprah” in the ratings in 14 out of the last 16 weeks. Oprah’s spokesperson said that even though she is down from last year, she still has the number 1 talk show over the last 24 years.

Is this a sign that Oprah could lose her top spot? Nope. Even though Judge Judy has topped her show many times over the last few months, she is still the #1 talk show. She was in 14th place in the top 25, and was the only talk show to be on it other than “Live with Regis and Kelly” Also, the other closest talk show competitor to Oprah, The Ellen DeGeneres show, didn’t even make the top 25.

Another big thing to point out, all talk shows, except Regis and Kelly, were in repeats. Shows ratings are of course, always down compared to new shows.

Also, the upcoming season of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will be the last, and that’s definitely going to boost it’s ratings, and the final episode should deliver one of the highest ratings ever for syndicated television.
