TechCrunch: Verizon iPhone due in January

Yeah, this is probably the billionth time you’ve heard that there will be a Verizon iPhone coming out, but this is the first one that I believe, and here’s why.

Steve Cheney from TechCrunch has gotten some details from pretty solid sources that Apple has ordered millions of Qualcomm CDMA chipsets that are due by December for a January launch of the Verizon iPhone 4. Steve himself says that he’s not 100% sure that it will happen, and I agree with him on that too. Apple normally releases a new iPhone every year, and it’s launched in the Summer. If they come out with the Verizon iPhone 4 in January, why would they release a new one six months later? That might also be a sign that Apple might not release a new iPhone next year, which would be a huge disappointment, and the break of a tradition since the first iPhone came out.

I never believed other reports, but I haven’t noticed a false report from TechCrunch since they announced the later canceled CrunchPad. So for now, this is the report that I’m going to follow. You should too.
