This is also one of those categories that have been dominated by one person over the years, but just like mid-term elections, it seems like there’s a revolt against incumbents and newcomers are taking over. Before I get to the deets, here are the nominees for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy:Lea Michele (Glee) Tina Fey (30 Rock) Toni Collette (The United States of Tara) Julia Louis-Dreyfus (The New Adventures of Old Christine) Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie) Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) I’m actually having a hard time deciding on this one. There are so many talented people on this category and the shows they star in wouldn’t be the same without them. I would have thought that Tina Fey has this one, but the performances of Edie Falco and Toni Collette on their Showtime shows are great, and Fey is no longer a real frontrunner in this category. Falco in Nurse Jackie is very funny, and can be dramatic at the right times. Toni Collette (last years winner) also had a great year on The United States of Tara, and she has a pretty good chance of taking it home this year again. Even though these are great nominees, none of them will win. I think Lea Michele has this one in the bag. Her performance on Glee is spectacular and even though she doesn’t necessarily have laugh-out-loud moments, the buzz on her is out if this world, and I think Emmy voters are listening. Her performance in Glee is great, and out of all the nominees, she’s the only one I find that looks hot. I think she might be the reason why the Emmys are going to have a ratings boost this year (mark my words!) and because networks are having a comeback this season overall. Once again, even though she’s so great, she shouldn’t win. She isn’t as funny as Tina Fey or Amy Poehler, and I believe that the funniest should win, and he’s just not that funny. She had much more dramatic scenes than comedy, and therefore she should’ve applied for a different category. Glee is so tough because it’s a perfect mixture of comedy and drama, but when you choose a side, it doesn’t have enough of it, in either category. I still love Michele though. She truly is the breakout actress of the year. I also love Amy Poehler. She is so hilarious, I sometimes choke in laughter when watching Parks and Recreation. Her character is so weird but determined, and she plays the character so well. The shows been on for 2 seasons and it’s great that it got recognition on it’s sophomore season, which is it’s best so far. It’s a shame though that none of the women from Modern Family didn’t put themselves up for this category, they would’ve had a great chance of winning. Oh well, maybe next year! So here’s my final decision: Who will win: Lea Michele Who should win: Lea Michele Stay tuned for my next prediction, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
