ABC Pickups & Cancellations

More news on television is out, with ABC announcing some full season pickups for the first time this season. No Ordinary Family and Better With You were both given the back 9 episodes to make a complete 21 episode season. They gave smaller orders for their other dramas, giving Detroit 1-8-7 just 5 additional episodes and Brothers and Sisters an additional 4 to make a 22 episode season. Something that was no surprise was that ABC didn’t announce any additional episode orders for it’s ratings-challenged Wednesday drama, The Whole Truth. The Maura Tierney procedural has had horrific ratings since episode 1, and even with the great time slot after ABC’s Comedy Wednesday power block, it just can’t find an audience. I expect it to get canceled at this point, and with ABC just announcing additional orders for all the other surviving rookie dramas, it was pretty much a death sentence.

Were almost done with full season pickups and cancellations (at least for this part of the season) but expect Fox to cancel Running Wilde and The CW to get rid of Life Unexpected after the end of it’s run. Stay tuned for more pickups and cancellations in the days and weeks to come.
