L.A. Reid Joins Simon Cowell’s ‘The X-Factor’

It’s official, legendary music producer/executive L.A. Reid is leaving Island Def Jam to join Simon Cowell on The X Factor.

L.A., who’s real name is Antonio, is one of the biggest and most influential names in music, and has spawned the careers of many artists who are now big hitters in the industry like P!nk, Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Jennifer Lopez, and Justin Bieber, just to name a few. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report on the Reid pickup, and Fox is now confirming the news.

Fox and Cowell have been on the hunt for judges since it was announced that he would leave American Idol for his own talent show with the same name as the UK version, which is a smash hit. Time is running out for judges to be picked as the auditions for the show are slated to begin in less than two weeks. It is a huge grab to get Reid, as he is one of the busiest people in entertainment. As many have said, it is a huge risk for Reid, who’s leaving a dream job at Def Jam and that huge salary.

Either way, he is very excited to join ‘X Factor’, as he said in a statement that Fox released moments ago. “I am proud to stand next to my dear friend Simon Cowell, one of the world’s most gifted and charismatic talent magnets.” Simon is very excited as well, saying that “L.A. was my number one choice to sit alongside me on the show. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest ever music executives and of course a fantastic writer and producer.”

Chances are that there will be 3 judges, so there is one left, who will it be? Let the rumors begin.
