Tons of things going on in the TV business right now, especially cable. From a Teen show re-doing what it does best, to an MTV staple that will keep its cameras rolling. So, here are some things you need to know.Degrassi Burns Up Again for Season 11 Yup, if you thought last summer’s suspenseful and action-packed summer season was a one-time affair, you’re fortunately wrong. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the show will return for an 11th season and three new characters are joining the cast. They’ve learned exclusively that production has begun on a super-sized 45 episode season that will be aired in the telenovela format which aired brand new episodes from Monday through Thursday every week in the summer. The summer stint got TeenNick it’s best quarter ever in total viewers, by an amazing 27 percent. The three new cast members include Cristine Prosperi playing Imogen Moreno, Justin Kelly as Jake Martin, and Chloe Rose plays soccer star Katie Matlin. The Real World Renewed, Twice. MTV has renewed reality TV staple (some would say MTV’s flagship show), The Real World. They’ve actually renewed it for 2 more seasons, keeping it all the way through the end of the 2012, it’s 27th season. The Real World: Las Vegas (the second outing in the city) has been steadily climbing in the ratings, and tied Top Chef for the highest rated show on cable last night. Running since 1992, it is MTV’s longest running show, and the longest running reality show in cable history and the second longest in all of television (just behind COPS). ‘Lights Out’ Gets Knocked Out By FX FX has cancelled it’s freshman drama ‘Lights Out’ after just one season. The show premiered to relatively low ratings for so much promotion, and the ratings didn’t improve. After the first episode, the show failed to get a million viewers and this weeks episode got it’s lowest numbers ever (693,000 viewers). Even though it’s canceled, FX will air the remaining two episodes and the rest will be history. All of this just happened today, crazy right? I’ll keep you posted on renewals, cancellations, additional episode orders, and pickups as soon as they happen!
