As rumored over the last few months, Meredith Vieira will leave NBC’s ‘Today’ in June. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vieira will leave her post three months before her contract expires, and will be replaced by current newsreader Ann Curry. National Correspondent Natalie Morales will replace Curry as newsreader, and Matt Lauer will remain as co-host for the time being. Lauer’s contract ends next year. NBC execs have decided to play it safe and not hire any new personalities for viewers to get used to, as the morning television show is a very hard television genre to get right. An NBC News spokesperson declined to comment.
