In what is sure to be the best TV news of the week, Showtime has announced that it is bringing back its cancer dramedy ‘The Big C’ back for a third season. The Laura Linney-starrer has been stable and has performed well for the premium cable network, averaging about 600,000 viewers per episode in its second season. Speaking of Linney, she received an Emmy nomination for her performance on the show, and is considered the frontrunner. Production is expected to begin early next year with new episodes likely airing in the second quarter. ‘The Big C’ ends its second run on September 26th on Showtime.
