1 week, 4 shows, 4 cancellations.
CBS has canceled freshman comedy How to be a Gentleman after its second airing last night, where it delivered around 7 million viewers and a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49. While those numbers may be good on NBC or ABC, the numbers are frowned upon over at CBS. Although I bid on ABC’s Charlie’s Angels to be getting the boot next, I was absolutely certain that Gentleman would be getting the boot soon. Gentleman will be moved to Saturdays, and will have its Thursday 8:30PM slot taken by veteran comedy Rules of Engagement, which will premiere it’s sixth season in its time slot beginning October 20th.
This cancellation is the first for CBS this fall season, and is the fourth overall, after NBC’s The Playboy Club, Free Agents, and The CW’s H8R. This has been a pretty grim week for TV cancellations. What’s going to happen next week? I’m sticking to Charlie’s Angels, but NBC’s Prime Suspect, or even Harry’s Law (currently in it’s second season) could get replaced.
