The Most Wanted List: Entertainment Weekly’s Parks and & Rec Cover!

1. Entertainment Weekly’s Parks & Rec Cover

How long I’ve waited for this cover. After 3 seasons on the air, NBC’s Parks and Recreation is finally getting the recognition it deserves as Entertainment Weekly becomes the first magazine to feature the cast on the cover. Adam Scott was the only member of the cast that wasn’t on the cover because at the time, there was a snowstorm in New York(where he was located. It’s ratings are much higher this season than last and it got a series high in viewers when it came back for Season 3. It comes out this Friday on newsstands, but I got the cover extra early! EW gave 101 reasons(!) why they love Parks & Rec, and I agree with every single one.

2. Justin Bieber on Chelsea Lately

He’s already been on the show 3 times, and every time he comes by, it’s hilarious. The quick jabs that Chelsea throws and Bieber’s immediate flirting makes the interview informative, awkward, and very, very funny. This comes after a very great weekend at the box office with his movie (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never) being a close second to blockbuster vets like Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston’s new comedy (Just Go With It), and he’s only 16. Justin makes his fourth appearance on E!’s Chelsea Lately tonight.

3. Fox’s Traffic Light

I saw the Pilot of Traffic Light a few days after it aired and it was absolutely incredible. It set out everything that’s great for a new comedy series: Likable characters, relationships, and an everlasting storyline about 3 college friends who maintain their friendship going into their thirties. Reviews of the show were great and many say that the pilot was actually weaker than future episodes, so I can’t wait until this Tuesday at 9:30!

4. Grammy Fallout

The ceremony was painfully long, and the outcome of the major categories were too. I’m fine with Lady Antebellum winning Record or Song of the Year, but why the hell did they win both? Also, I truly thought it was Eminem’s comeback year, and even though it was, it was not recognized as it should’ve been by Grammy voters. Instead, Arcade Fire won (I’ll be trying them out soon) and what’s surely the most shocking win in the Best New Artist category in over a decade, the underdog that is Esperanza Spalding won the category after almost everyone predicted that it would be either Drake or Justin Bieber. It worked in Spalding’s favor though, her album is at it’s highest point ever on iTunes.

5. The Return of Fizbo and DeDe on Modern Family!

Cam’s hilarious clown returns for the first time in Season 2 of ABS’s Modern Family and it shouldn’t disappoint. He apparently has problems with Mitchell about being the clown on Lily’s birthday party. Also, Mitch and Claire’s crazy mother is coming back and she’s bringing Claire’s ex-boyfriend (who’s going to be played by Matt Dillon) along with her. It’s an episode of Modern Fanily you can’t miss!

That’s a wrap! Sorry I took a while, I was a bit busy, but make sure you check back next Monday for a brand new Most Wanted List!

Grammys are TONIGHT! What to Expect…

Were getting closer and closer to the most anticipated awards show of the season, the Oscars! But until then, we’re going to focus our attention to the most important awards show for music, the Grammys!

The show is tonight, and everyone that you love in music is going to be there. One thing that may (or may not) surprise you us that the spotlight has shifted in the Grammys. In the last couple of days, many have been wondering not who is going to win some awards, but what Lady Gaga is going to wear. Last year, we all know about the dress that she wore with what seemed like some hard plastic rings that swirled to her body and she held a big spiky ball on her hand. Many think that it looks crazy, I actually thought it was Gaga at her most elegant. You almost never see her wear a long dress that looks normal, and even though it wasn’t, if you took off that spiky ball and the ring spiral, she would look amazing. She still did in my opinion, but I hope she doesn’t mess it up this year, especially with the craziness that was the meat dress at last years VMAs. Don’t get me wrong, it was definitely cool and creative, but I don’t think that it’s formal to wear at something like that to an event as big as the Grammys.

The Grammys are a bit tough to predict, just because main categories like record and album of the year have all genres included, unlike other genre-centric categories. One category that I’m still not ruling out as an obvious winner is the Best New Artist category. I doubt that Esperanza Spalding will win, but the other nominees are tough to choose. Drake and Justin Buber are the frontrunners, but Florence+The Machine really shocked the world with their performance at the VMAs and their lead single was very successful. Mumford and Sons also exploded this year, with Indie Alternative Rock lovers calling their album one of the best of the year.

Speaking of Alternative, that category is has been getting very competitive in the last few years, and has been becoming more mainstream as well. Arcade Fire, along with The Black Keys and Vampire Weekend are the frontrunners in this category, and this category is also too close to call, but I’m actually going to go out on a limb and predict that Arcade Fire will win this. Grammy voters look at quality, as well as popularity and album sales, and Arcade Fire has been the most successful when it comes to all three.

For Best Pop Vocal Album, I’m a bit stuck on as well, as Susan Boyle, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, John Mayer, and Lady Gaga are nominated in this category. The only reason I’m stuck is because Susan Boyle is surprisingly the most successful of all the albums nominated. Her album, I Dreamed a Dream was the second-best selling album of 2009 and was got the best opening week for a debut artist in over a decade with 701,000 copies sold in it’s first week alone. This one is too close to call for me. In the dance category, this one definitely goes to Rihanna. The closest competitor was Lady Gaga and the barely recognized Robyn, but Rihanna definitely killed with “Only Girl (in the World)” and her album as a whole. For best Pop Collaboration, B.o.B, Eminem, and Hayley Williams are nominated for “Airplanes Part II”, Herbie Hancock for “Imagine”, Elton John and Leon Russell for “If it Wasn’t for Bad” Lady Gaga and Beyonce for “Telephone” and Katy Perry & Snoop Dogg for “California Gurls”. I love “Airplanes” (and hope it wins), but i think Lady Gaga has this one with Beyonce. It was truly a great combo, so I think it could win, but I’m still crossing my fingers for “Airplanes”.

On the hip-hop side, Eminem will deservedly dominate this genre, as he will almost certainly win for Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Album, along with the huge categories of Album of The Year and Record of The Year along with Rihanna. I truly couldn’t be happier that Eminem is the frontrunner with nominations and it could be the best comeback in the last few decades, and it should not be missed.

As far as Grammy coverage goes, you can’t go wrong with E! They have complete coverage of the ceremony starting with “Countdown to the Red Carpet” at 5 EST, and then “Live from the Red Carpet with Giuliana Rancic and Ryan Seacrest starting at 6 and ends when the ceremony starts. You can catch the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards tonight at 8 PM on CBS.

Grammy Nominations To Be Announced Tonight

Tonight will be the start of the buzz for next years awards season, with the Academy of Recording Arts giving out their nominations for next years awards ceremony.

A concert with many of the nominees is done every year on CBS, which is the network that has the rights to airing the awards telecast. Stars like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, B.o.B., and Country star Miranda Lambert are scheduled to perform tonight with LL Cool J hosting the event (he hosted last year, I believe). All of them will likely get nominated for something, as they’ve all had a great year with their music (Yay for Bruno Mars!) An early favorite to get a nomination is Eminem, who’s album Recovery is the best selling album of the year, and has gotten rave reviews from critics. Another possible favorite newcomer is Susan Boyle who had an amazing year as well, with her Christmas album(s?) selling hundreds of thousands in its first week, and millions overall. Another favorite which is pretty much certain to get a nomination is Taylor Swift who’s new album Speak Now broke records, selling over 1 million copies in its first week alone.

Will there be a Kanye moment at this concert? I doubt it, considering Kanye himself wont be there, but I’m sure security is tight over at CBS, and its not an actual awards show.

Make sure to watch to see if your favorite artists get nominated tonight with the Grammy Nominations Convert Live at 10 PM EST on CBS.
